Ek Madhav Baug is a pioneering Marathi language play by the late Chetan Datar that was enacted on stage by Mona Ambegaonkar in Hindi. (It has been translated into Hindi by Mona Ambegaonkar and Vivek Anand.) The play is seen from the point of view of a mother who discovers that her son is gay and through his diary, relives his journey of discovery of his own sexuality. The moving performance at Godrej India Culture Lab was followed by a discussion with the actor and CEO of The Humsafar Trust - Vivek Anand.

Ambassador Deo has a Master’s degree from the Delhi School of Economics. A distinguished diplomat, she has been the Indian Ambassador to Denmark and Ivory Coast with concurrent accreditation to several West African countries. She has also served in Indian embassies in Washington D.C., Bangkok and Rome. Her most recent assignment was as Consul General in New York. During her assignments in the Ministry of External Affairs, she was Joint Secretary for Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and the Maldives.

Venkatesh Hariharan (Venky) is the Director of Knowledge Commons, a non-profit that works on open access to knowledge. Before entering the non-profit world, he was the Head of Public Policy at Google India, the Corporate Affairs Director at Red Hat and the Executive Editor of Express Computer. Venky was the first Indian to be selected for the prestigious Knight Science Journalism Fellowship at MIT. He is interested in the intersection of technology, policy and society. Over the last few years, Open Source has emerged as a powerful model for creating and disseminating knowledge.

Young British born theatre-maker Kati Francis graduated in Theatre and Performance from the University of Cape Town in 2006 and returned from South Africa to the UK, questioning the space for traditional theatre within a globalised, media-tech world hiding in black boxes for the middle classes.
