Lakmé Fashion Week, Harper’s Bazaar India, The Partition Museum in Amritsar and the Godrej India Culture Lab presented The Partition Project, an installation and conversation to mark 70 years of the 1947 Partition of the subcontinent into India and Pakistan.

In the months leading up to August 2017, seven fashion design icons - Sabyasachi Mukherji, JJ Valaya, Tarun Tahiliani, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Shantanu & Nikhil, Abraham & Thakore and Narendra Kumar Ahmed - were invited to reflect on the Partition through their garment creations.

These garment installations were showcased at, and kickstarted our Lakme Fashion Week conversation featuring, Nonita Kalra, Editor Harper’s Bazaar India and curator of The Partition Project,  Mallika Ahluwalia, CEO and co-founder of the Partition Museum, Amritsar, designers J J Valaya and Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Parmesh Shahani , Head - Godrej India Culture Lab. All seven garment installations will subsequently be housed inside the permanent collection of the Partition Museum, Amritsar.
