About Dr. Payton MacDonald:
Dr. Payton MacDonald is the Associate Professor of Music at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey, USA. He is a composer, improviser, percussionist, singer, and educator. He has created a unique body of work that draws upon his extensive experience with East Indian tabla drumming and Dhrupad singing, Jazz, European classical music, and the American experimental tradition. Dr. Payton works across multiple musical genres, often at the same time. He is presently in India on a Senior Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship, studying Dhrupad vocals with renowned masters, the Gundecha Brothers.
