Godrej India Culture Lab was proud to present the screening of S Nallamuthu’s incredible film Meet Machli, the World’s Most Famous Tiger.

Machli lived to an extraordinary age of 20, the longest a tiger has lived in the wild. In this long and fruitful life, Machli defeated her mother to become queen of the fort and lake territory of Ranthambore, battled a 14 feet crocodile and even fought a huge male tiger to protect her cubs.

Machli played a key role in the regeneration of the tiger population in Ranthambore and Sariska National Parks. This film tells the incredible stories behind Machli’s rise to power and legacy, from her prime to her death. Nalla, has been filming Machli for more than 9 years and the film has been produced by Natural History Unit India for National Geographic channel.

In addition, to the screening we also had a photo exhibit of images of Machli taken by Dr. Sandip Sharma towards the end of her life, as she embarked on her final journey.
