In the 21st century, speed and short term have become the rule in our societies. Stressed out by the technological and financial acceleration, we are trying to keep up a rhythm which will end in predictable ecological, economical and social disasters. Across the world people are leaving the daily grind to lead better lifestyles by constructing alternative ways of living. French Director Philippe Borrel tracks down these people for his documentary The Invisible (R)evolutions.

 

The documentary recounts stories about citizens of the world who have chosen not to give in to this norm of immediacy. Individually or collectively, they experiment with local and concrete alternatives to the traditional concept of growth at any cost.

The film screening was followed by a conversation with Philippe Borrel and Shubhi Sachan from Watch, Talk, Eat, Don't Repeat - an initaive that screens films on sustainability at Godrej. This event was in association with Alliance Francaise de Bombay. 

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR 

Philippe Borrel is a French film maker, working mostly on documentaries for ARTE and France Television. His films deal mainly with global and western social issues such as environment, speed of change and life, food and agriculture. He has produced A World beyond Humans in 2012, a film about the impact of technology on our lives.
