Our association with KASHISH goes back a long way. Sridhar Rangayan, festival director, and his team have been a constant support through all the LGBT programming we have hosted through the years at the Lab. We have also hosted two pop-up KASHISH festivals at our Viva Vikhroli, which included this great discussion with Hansal Mehta and Nandita Das. However, KASHISH 2016 was truly a special one at the Lab.

The burden on public hospitals is seemingly unsurmountable, yet they manage to function and provide the best possible treatment to their patients. Take for example, King Edward Memorial Hospital. It treats over 1.7 million patients every year! Vice Chancellor at D Y Patil University Dr Sanjay Oak who was until recently Dean at KEM hospital, is a fiery speaker who spoke from experience about what it takes to run a public hospital. Anant Pandya (1909-1951)Anant Pandya, from Gujarat was the first Indian to graduate with a doctorate in engineering from MIT, earning the degree in civil engineering in 1933. However, when he came back to India he had a hard time finding a job. British firms did not recognize the value of his MIT education. One firm offered him a job for the humiliatingly low salary of 150 rupees a month. Pandya eventually took a job in London working on advanced construction techniques. Then in 1939, Pandya was appointed the first Indian principal of the Bengal Engineering College.

In March, we partnered with LinkedIn-MTV Get A Job to find the country’s most eligible intern. We had a crazy, fun day shooting with the team. It took months to sift through the two lakh resumes that were sent in to the TV channel. The final five who made it to the Lab were in for a reality show-style contest. One of the reasons we wake up with a big smile on our face every morning, is because our Lab is housed in one the most beautiful office campuses in the country. In February 2016, we launched a campaign to celebrate our workplace with the #ILoveGodrejOne contest. We called for Godrejites to send their best pictures of the Godrej headquarters and we were innundated with photographs. Here are 12 of the best that we received!

The Lab travelled outside Mumbai for the first time in its five-year history in January for our pop-up at India Art Fair, the biggest annual art mela in the country. Curating two power-packed panel discussions and an immersive audio-visual installation at the closing party was the premise of the trip, but we made a bunch of cameos at cultural events and spaces across the city. We have put together a few pictures that capture our amazing time in the Capital.
