Kiruba Munusamy on queer pride and caste
Kiruba Munusamy is an advocate practicing in the Supreme Court of India. She is working against various human rights violations in India such as caste-based discrimination and violence against Dalit women. At Queeristan, Kiruba spoke about discrimination within the queer community, the invisibilisation of trans men in trans activism and pride as a concept that isn't mindful of caste hierarchies. Queeristan: Caste and Queerness explored how public discourse around LGBTQ rights movement in India has been dominated by narratives of upper caste activism, disregarding anti-caste assertion within the movement, and caste-based discrimination against Dalit-queer people.
